Bachmann Comments on Report Showing 4,500 Jobs Lost in Iowa Last Month
July 12, 2011
Urbandale, Iowa - Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann issued the following statement after the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics released a report today showing that Iowa lost approximately 4,500 jobs in June 2011:
"Iowans continue to suffer under the failed economic policies of President Obama and this new report is further evidence of an economy in decline. The latest numbers show that unemployment rose in 28 states in June alone. This is unacceptable.
"It's been nearly two-and-a-half years since President Obama signed his stimulus bill into law, and still the news on the jobs front remains bleak. But that's not stopping him from doubling down on his failed plan by talking about issuing a new stimulus. To do that he'll have to reach his goal of raising the nation's debt limit by another $2.4 trillion and increasing taxes on job creators – two things I will continue to fight.
"Mr. President, the Hawkeye State and every other state in the Union can't afford to lose another job. End the threat of higher taxes, stop the massive deficit spending, and give business owners relief from the devastation of overregulation."
