The Mexico State Election, 2011 was held on July 3, 2011 to choose the next Governor for the State of Mexico. The election gained importance in the politics of Mexico as it sets the tone for the Presidential Election in July 2012.

Institutional Revolutionary Party candidate Eruviel Avila has won the gubernational election with 62.6% of the votes. The PRI also won convincingly in the two other governor’s races, taking 57.4% in Coahuila and nearly 50% in little Nayarit.

Exit Polls

Exit polls showed that Institutional Revolutionary Party candidate Eruviel Avila will win the 2011 State Election with a landslide victory.

A private poll carried out for TV Azteca has Eruviel Avila with 64% support against Alejandro Encinas of the Party of the Democratic Revolution's 23%.
