July 14: Incumbent senator Ben Nelson has raised more than $900,000 in the second quarter of 2011. His 2012 campaign has $2.9 million in cash on hand. Paul Johnson, a Nelson's campaign manager said: "I am confident we will have the resources needed to win re-election in spite of the efforts of Karl Rove and his billionaire affiliates to affect the outcome," "Supporters are becoming increasingly passionate about this election as they learn more about our opponents' willingness to dismantle Social Security and Medicare."
