The United States Senate Election, 2012 in Texas will be held on November 6, 2012. Incumbent Republican U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison decided to retire after three terms.

July 20: Republican Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst formally launches his campaign for the Texas US Senate vacated by Kay Bailey Hutchison. Jim Bognet, his campaign manager said that the formal paperwork has been filed the Federal Election Commission. A short video was sent to about 500 supporters of Dewhurst.
